Regent's International School bangkok
About Us
Regent’s International School, Bangkok, one of Thailand’s leading international schools, is a day and boarding school for 2 to 18 years old, passionate about developing the whole person through academic, physical, cultural and social experiences. We are guided by the British curriculum from the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) leading to IGCSEs. Post 16 we adopt the IB (International Baccalaureate) Diploma Programme.
The school works hard to cultivate a friendly, happy family atmosphere whilst not shirking from hard work and high standards. Our school vision and mission are closely allied to our status as a Round Square school. Our approach guides students into becoming well-rounded, informed, responsible, principled and confident global citizens. We do this by developing international understanding, empathy and tolerance for all cultures, democratic governance and justice, environmental stewardship, adventure, motivating self-discovery and courage, leadership, with courage and compassion and service to others.
Our greatest accomplishments are measured in the successes of individual students. These will be places at Oxford, Cambridge and other great universities around the globe, world class scores at IB and IGCSE, fabulous concerts, plays and art shows, sports and a commitment to service to others. Regent’s graduates are more than just successful students. They are a global network of high achieving, caring, global citizens.
Our History
In 1992, our Chairman and Founder, Dr. Virachai, armed with his innovative educational vision, started The Regent’s School’s story with 32 rental houses in Pattaya, Chonburi. The residents, who were executives of Exxon, Foster Wheeler and Fluor Daniel, inspired him to set up an international school to attract foreign engineers to work in the eastern part of Thailand. The Regent’s School, Pattaya, was started in 1995 with 100 pupils. As the school continued to grow and see success, Dr. Virachai wanted to provide the same top quality education to students in Bangkok, which he did in 1999.
The first Bangkok campus opened near the Thailand Cultural Centre. As the school grew and welcomed more families into its international community, the second and current Bangkok site was opened in 2009, to welcome Early Years and Primary classes. The same year, a Joint Venture Agreement was signed to establish The Regent’s School UK in Diss, Norfolk, not far from Cambridge.
Investment in top quality teachers – who must all possess Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and almost all of whom are British – has been the key to the school’s success. It has resulted in top university destinations including Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, Imperial College London in the UK and Stanford, Cornell, Wharton and UCLA in the United States.
Today the school attracts the children of international royalty and ministers among the boarders here at Bangkok Campus and it hopes to continue to go from strength to strength and maintain its reputation of a top academic international institution in the Thai capital.
