Screens are part of everyday life, from learning tools to entertainment. But how much is too much? For parents, the challenge is finding a healthy balance that supports learning without compromising wellbeing. At Regent’s International School Bangkok, we believe technology should enhance education, not replace real-world experiences.
Our approach combines digital learning with hands-on activities, ensuring students develop critical thinking, creativity and social skills. We encourage families to set clear boundaries at home and model positive habits. By working together, we can help children use technology responsibly while staying active and connected.
Nikki Edgar, our Head of Counselling, shares her perspective:
“Our students are what we now call, “digital natives”. They have never known a world without advanced technology or devices. This can be very scary, as a parent, trying to understand what their world looks like. The most important thing that we can teach our children is about balance. There is a place in our lives for our smartphones, tablets, and laptops. We can even spend quality time together playing games or watching our favourite shows on them. But it’s also key to schedule device-free times to truly connect with one another. Take this holiday season and time away from the busy schedule of school days to schedule a family game night, go to the park together, or go out to eat.”
Finding the right balance is key to raising confident, happy learners.
